Lace wig application tips:
Lace wigs are the latest and hottest new trend in the hair industry. Applied correctly, lace wigs have an undetectable hairline giving the appearance that the hair is growing right from the scalp. Although, the process is delicate, your technique should improve with each application.
The application process is as follows:
Step 1 Prepare your hair
Wash hair and create a flat surface by braiding the hair, or wrapping hair around the head, just like you would for a synthetic wig (wig cap is optional).
Step 2 Begin with a clean palate
Wash the face and neck areas with a mild soap. Swab the hairline and neck areas with alcohol to remove excess cleanser residue and oils.
Step 3 Prepare lace wig
Pull lace wig hair back into a large hair clip. Clip baby hair back with bobby pins or clips. Cut lace back to hairline using small sharp scissors.
Step 4 Apply adhesive
Glue: Use a Q-Tip to apply layers of adhesive around perimeter of hairline. Allow adhesive to semi-dry between applications. When the adhesive appears almost clear, semi dry or tacky to the touch, it is ready to attach the wig.
Tape: Apply double sided tape to the underside edge of the wig. Do not remove the second side of paper shield. Neatly position the wig on your head, and expose the other side of the double sided tape by removing the paper shield. Press firmly and hold into place for at least 2 minutes.
Step 5 Apply lace wig
Position the lace wig on head with hairline rolled back. Begin at the middle point of forehead by pressing the lace down to the adhesive. Make sure to attach the front hairline, and then proceed to the nape. Use back end of comb to press the lace against the hairline to secure lace front wig onto hairline. Tie the hair down with a silk scarf or a bandana to ensure that adhering process will stick. Allow time for glue to completely dry before styling.
